It doesn’t matter what a woman is wearing, no means no. Rape is not the fault of the victim, it is the fault of the perpetrator.
I apologize that these posters depict skinny white girls, when the fact of the matter is women of various shapes, sizes, and colors get taken advantage of.
I choose images from a magazine to make clear how women are portrayed in society. They are often seen as sexual objects, and in these ads directly pictured as such. Whether this is the fault of the creator of the image or the society we live in, I am not sure. But this perception of women needs to change.
Rape culture will stop as soon as we stop blaming the victim. No matter a woman’s size, shape, skin color, or choice of clothing, if she is taken advantage of, it is not her fault.
